Pune, May 22: Uber has rolled out a new service, Uber for Teens, designed exclusively for teenagers aged 13 to 17 in India. The ride-hailing giant aims to provide a safe, reliable, and convenient transportation option for young riders while giving parents peace of mind. The service is now available in 37 cities, including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata.

Safety First: How Uber for Teens Works

The service is built with strict safety measures, including real-time GPS tracking, ride monitoring, and an in-app emergency button. Parents can create a linked Teens account, allowing them to book rides for their children, track trips live, and receive detailed ride summaries.

Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, said, “We understand the transportation challenges teenagers and parents face. Uber for Teens offers a trusted solution that’s both safe and easy to use.”

Why Parents Need This Service

A recent Uber survey revealed that 92% of parents struggled with unreliable transport options for their teens, while 72% cited safety as their top concern. Additionally:

  • 63% of parents drove their teens to sports/extracurricular activities.
  • 61% ferried them to coaching classes.
  • 93% said they would use a dedicated teen rideshare service if available.

How to Get Started

Parents with a verified Uber account can invite their teen to join. Once the teen sets up their profile (with a guardian linked), they can start booking rides. Parents receive real-time notifications and can also book trips on their teen’s behalf.

With Uber for Teens, the company hopes to reduce dependency on personal vehicles while giving youngsters greater independence—safely.
