Two Pune Men Jailed, Fined ₹20,000 Each for Drunk Driving in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 26th March 2025 – In a stern warning against drunk driving, a local court has sentenced two men to jail and imposed hefty fines for driving under the influence. The Motor Vehicle Court in Shivajinagar handed down a four-day sentence to 26-year-old Dattatray Atish Tipre and a three-day term to 45-year-old Rajkumar Garjuprasad Bharti, along with a ₹20,000 fine each.
The convictions stem from cases filed last year by Pimpri Traffic Police after the duo was caught driving while intoxicated. The court found them guilty, reinforcing the legal consequences of such dangerous behavior.
Traffic Police Intensify Drunk Driving Crackdown
Despite repeated warnings, many drivers in Pimpri-Chinchwad continue to ignore traffic laws, endangering lives by driving drunk. The Traffic Branch has been actively booking offenders and presenting them before the Motor Vehicle Court for prosecution.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bapu Bangar emphasized the importance of responsible driving, saying, “For their own safety and others’, drivers must avoid alcohol before getting behind the wheel. Violators will face strict legal action.”
272 Caught Drunk Driving on Dhulivandan
In a recent enforcement drive on Dhulivandan, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police arrested 272 individuals for drunk driving. Using breath analyzers, officers identified offenders, who now face further legal proceedings, including possible license suspension and additional penalties. Notices will be issued, requiring court appearances.
Authorities hope these strict measures will deter others from risking lives by driving under the influence.
