Speeding Car Collides with Taxi on Dadar Flyover, Killing Driver and Passenger; 21-Year-Old Detained

In a tragic incident on Saturday afternoon, a speeding car collided with a taxi on Mumbai’s Elphinstone Bridge, claiming two lives. The reckless driver, identified as 21-year-old Priyanshu Bandre, lost control of his vehicle, swerving into oncoming traffic and slamming into a black-and-yellow cab.
The impact killed the taxi driver and a 55-year-old passenger, Rekha Parmar, who was inside the cab at the time. The crash occurred around 1:15 PM while Bandre was heading towards Dadar railway station.
Police officials confirmed that Bandre was detained at the scene and is suspected of driving rashly and negligently. “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of reckless driving,” an officer stated. Authorities have registered a case against Bandre, and further investigations are underway.
The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in Mumbai, where speeding and negligent driving often lead to fatal accidents.
