Pune witnessed a shocking incident of public indecency when Gaurav Ahuja, a BMW driver, was caught urinating and performing obscene acts at Shastrinagar Chowk in Yerawada. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage. Ahuja, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, stepped out of his luxury car with the doors open and relieved himself on the road divider. His associate, Bhagyesh Oswal, was seated in the front seat during the act.

Following the backlash, Ahuja recorded an apology video before surrendering to the police. In the video, he expressed deep regret, stating, “I am Gaurav Ahuja, living in Pune. I deeply regret my actions from yesterday and sincerely apologize to the people of Pune, Maharashtra, and India. I also apologize to the police department and Shinde Saheb. Please forgive me and give me a chance. It will never happen again. I am truly sorry.”

It is speculated that Ahuja referred to Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde as ‘Shinde Saheb’ in his apology, though this remains unconfirmed.

Ahuja attempted to evade authorities by traveling from Pune to Kolhapur and then to Dharwad before returning to Yerawada, where he recorded the apology video. However, he was eventually tracked down and detained by Satara Police. He is expected to be handed over to Pune Police for further legal proceedings.

A case has been registered against Ahuja and Oswal under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, with charges including public nuisance, indecent behavior, reckless driving, and endangering public safety. Police suspect both men were intoxicated during the incident, and Oswal has been sent for medical tests to confirm this.
