Gurdeep Singh, an official from Shankh Airlines, recently met with Gorakhpur Airport Director R.K. Parashar to discuss flight requirements. Parashar confirmed that the airline aims to commence operations by late June, pending necessary formalities. The carrier also plans to expand services to other key UP airports, including Varanasi and Prayagraj, in the future.

Headquartered in Lucknow, Shankh Airlines will focus on enhancing regional connectivity, particularly in underserved routes. While awaiting final clearance from the DGCA, the airline intends to operate Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft, offering both domestic and future international flights.

Gorakhpur currently handles 26 daily flights (13 arrivals and departures) operated by IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air, connecting cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. Shankh’s entry is expected to provide more travel options, potentially introducing 24/7 operations.

Local MP Ravi Kishan Shukla recently met with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to push for improved air services, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s efforts have already expanded flight availability, benefiting travelers from Purvanchal and Nepal.

With India’s aviation sector booming, Shankh Airlines could play a pivotal role in boosting regional mobility and meeting rising passenger demand.
