Saif Ali Khan stabbed six times in his home in Mumbai during brawl with thief
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after undergoing a two-and-a-half-hour surgery at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital early this morning. The actor sustained six stab wounds during a violent altercation with a thief who broke into his Bandra residence around 2:30 AM on January 16. Two of the injuries were reported as deep, with one dangerously close to his spine, according to Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital.
Khan’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two sons were present in the house at the time of the incident. The actor’s team confirmed that he is stable and requested privacy as investigations continue.
Incident Details and Police Actions
The Bandra home of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor became the scene of an attempted burglary when an intruder broke in during the early hours. A confrontation ensued, leaving the actor injured. The thief fled the scene and remains at large.
Mumbai Police have deployed forensic teams to the residence and are examining CCTV footage. Officers have also recorded statements from three of the household staff. To aid the investigation, a sniffer dog was brought to the site, and questioning of potential witnesses is ongoing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam stated, “The actor and the intruder had a scuffle. The actor is injured and is being treated. Investigation is ongoing.”

The incident has sparked concern in the Bollywood community. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand was among the first to visit Saif at the hospital. Meanwhile, actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt voiced her concerns over safety in Bandra, calling for increased police presence. On X, she wrote, “Can this lawlessness please be curbed @MumbaiPolice @CPMumbaiPolice… The city, especially the queen of the suburbs, has never felt so unsafe before.”
