Rising Temperatures Boost Air Cooler Sales in Pune

Pune, April 1, 2025: With the mercury soaring past 40°C in early March, Pune residents are increasingly turning to air coolers to beat the heat. The growing demand has given a significant boost to air cooler sales, with a variety of models available in the market ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹12,000.
Affordable Cooling for the Middle Class
While air conditioners remain out of reach for many due to high costs and electricity consumption, air coolers provide a budget-friendly alternative. This has made them a popular choice among middle-class families and students living in rental accommodations.
Window coolers, suitable for small rooms, are priced between ₹2,500 and ₹7,000, while larger desert coolers range from ₹6,000 to ₹12,000. Compared to last year, prices have risen by ₹500 to ₹1,000 due to increased demand.
“Last year, I bought a local-brand cooler, and it worked great. So, I bought the same brand again this year,” said Vaibhav Jagdale, a customer from Karvenagar. Another buyer, Rohini Shinde from Dhayari, mentioned, “My kids were struggling to sleep at night due to the heat. Since an AC was too expensive, we opted for a cooler instead.”
Sellers Witness a Surge in Demand
Retailers report strong sales this season as people seek relief from the scorching heat. “The demand for coolers has been excellent this year. We are ensuring that customers get the best options at reasonable prices,” said Govind Kapoor Bharti, a local air cooler dealer.
Tips for Effective Cooler Use
- Place the cooler in a well-ventilated area for better airflow.
- Regularly clean the water tank to prevent clogging and bad odors.
- Keep windows or doors slightly open to maintain air circulation.
- Store the cooler in a dry place when not in use to prolong its life.
With rising temperatures showing no signs of slowing down, air coolers continue to be the go-to solution for beating the summer heat in Pune.
