Rain in Pune: IMD Predicts Thunderstorms, Rain From April 1-3 Providing Relief From Summer Heat

Pune is set to experience thunderstorms and rainfall from April 1 to 3, offering temporary relief from the sweltering heat, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). However, despite the showers, temperatures are expected to remain high, touching 37°C on some days.

Hot and Dry Conditions Persist

On Sunday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 39°C, which was 1.8°C above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 21.2°C, 3.4°C higher than usual. The humidity levels also fluctuated significantly, with 56% in the morning dropping to a dry 20% by evening. No rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours.

Thunderstorms Expected in Early April

The IMD’s seven-day forecast predicts a partly cloudy sky on March 31, with temperatures ranging between 21°C and 37°C. From April 1 to 3, thunderstorms and rain are expected to hit the city, providing some respite from the intense heat. After this period, clear skies will return, and temperatures will stabilize around 37°C.

Summer Heat to Continue

Despite the upcoming rain, Pune’s summer heat is expected to persist. Maximum temperatures will hover between 35°C and 37°C in the coming days. With low humidity levels in the evening, the city’s weather will remain warm and dry, characteristic of early April.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions against fluctuating weather conditions as the city oscillates between extreme heat and thunderstorms.
