Pune: Minimum Temperatures Dip Below 20 Degrees, Only Light Rain Predicted

Pune, September 14, 2024: Minimum temperatures in Pune have been dropping below 20°C in the past few days. Shivajinagar, including the National Defence Academy (NDA) area, recorded temperatures as low as 18.5°C.

The lowest temperature in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours was recorded at Mahabaleshwar, which dipped to 16.6°C. In contrast, the maximum temperature in the state was recorded at Chandrapur, reaching 33.6°C.

Anupam Kashyapi, the former Head of the Weather Forecasting Division at IMD Pune, shared insights on the ongoing weather patterns. A depression in the northeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) is moving west-northwest. Alerts have been issued for different regions based on the depression’s likely path:

- September 14: Red alert in Gangetic West Bengal (GWB) and Odisha; Orange alert in Jharkhand.
- September 15: Orange alert in Jharkhand.
- September 16: Orange alert in Chhattisgarh. Vidarbha region may face a yellow alert on September 16 and 17.
In Pune and Mumbai, very light to light rain is expected from September 14 to 18, including on the auspicious Anant Chaturdashi day.
