Pune, February 9 – In a shocking incident, a woman was arrested for allegedly killing her two children and attacking her husband with a koyta in the Daund tehsil of Pune district. The crime took place early Saturday morning at 4:21 am in Shidewasti (Swami Chincholi).
According to Pune rural police, the accused, identified as Komal Duryodhan Mindhe (30), strangled her two children, Shambhu (1) and Sayali (2), before brutally attacking her husband, Duryodhan Mindhe (36), at their residence. The injured husband, a network engineer working from home, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Police suspect that domestic disputes between the couple may have led to the crime. “The murders might be a fallout of the disputes between the couple,” said Bapurao Dadas, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Daund.
Inspector Gopal Pawar of Daund police station stated that the couple had frequent arguments in recent days. On Saturday morning, Komal allegedly strangled the children before attacking her husband, who was sleeping in another room. The commotion alerted other family members, who rushed the victims to a hospital in Bhigwan. The children were later referred to a hospital in Baramati, where they were declared dead on arrival.
Following the incident, Komal allegedly attempted to end her own life, but police intervened in time and arrested her. Based on a complaint filed by her injured husband, a case has been registered against her under sections 103(1) and 109 of the BNS, along with section 4(25) of the Arms Act.
