Pune: Warje Resident Arrested for Kidnapping, Raping 11-Year-Old Neighbour; Hotel Staff Booked for Abetment

Pune:Â The Uttamnagar police have arrested a 24-year-old Warje resident for allegedly kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl from his neighbourhood. His friend, along with the owner and manager of a hotel near Khadakwasla Dam, were also arrested for abetment and providing a room without verification.
According to police, the survivor belongs to a family of casual workers, while the accused and his friend are daily wage labourers.
Inspector Nilesh Badakh of Warje police stated, “On Friday morning, the girl’s parents and elder brother left for work, leaving her and her sister at home. That afternoon, the neighbour lured her outside, asking her to accompany him and his friend on a bike for an outing. The unsuspecting girl agreed, and they took her to a hotel where she was assaulted.”
When the girl’s parents returned and couldn’t find her, they alerted the police. Authorities traced the suspect’s phone location to the hotel and rescued the girl.
“The hotel staff failed to verify identities or maintain proper records, allowing the suspects to rent a room without checking the girl’s age or relationship with them,” Badakh added.
During interrogation, the accused revealed plans to take the girl to his native place in Uttar Pradesh.
