Pune: Vehicle Owners Face HSRP Application Hurdles as Website Glitches Persist

Pune, 13th March 2025: Vehicle owners in Pune continue to grapple with technical malfunctions on the official HSRP (High-Security Registration Plates) portal www.mhhsrp.com, leading to widespread frustration over failed appointments and payment processing errors.
Residents reported repeated roadblocks during online registration. A Hadapsar-based applicant spent hours attempting to register his two-wheeler but faced consistent errors. “Every time I entered vehicle details, the system failed to fetch data from the Vahan portal. I couldn’t proceed beyond the first page,” he said. Another user shared, “The payment stage crashed repeatedly, forcing me to restart the process multiple times.”
Data from the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) reveals only 32,388 vehicles have installed HSRPs so far, despite 1.44 lakh appointments being booked. This figure remains starkly low compared to the 25 lakh vehicles mandated to switch to the new plates. A Kothrud resident highlighted his ordeal: “The website kept crashing. After three days of trying, I secured an April 3 appointment.”
Deputy RTO Swapnil Bhosle confirmed awareness of the complaints, stating, “We’ve urged Rosemerta Digital Services, the HSRP contractor, to resolve technical issues and expand service centers.” Shripad Jangam of Rosemerta Digital Services attributed some errors to outdated Vahan portal data or server issues. “Applicants must verify engine/chassis numbers. We’re adding new centers and honoring confirmed slots,” he assured.
With the deadline looming, vehicle owners demand streamlined systems, expanded centers, and a deadline extension to avoid last-minute chaos. Authorities have not yet clarified if the deadline will be extended.
