Pune: The proposed 1.7 km double-decker flyover from Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk (SPPU) to E-square junction for the third Metro line (Hinjawadi-Civil Court) will be completed by Nov/Dec-end as per the agreement with the concessionaire, Yogesh Mhase, Commissioner, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), said on Thursday.

Prior to this, Mhase reviewed the work of the third Metro line on Wednesday.

The timelines were placed at project monitoring unit meeting held last month under deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.

Mhase told media persons that the timelines agreed upon will be implemented. “We are monitoring and will try to adhere to the agreed timelines,” he added.

The project is being executed by PMRDA on private-public partnership (PPP) through Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, the special purpose vehicle for implementation of the third Metro line connecting Hinjawadi IT Park to Civil Court Interchange station.

Chief engineer Rinaj Pathan added that two additional launching girders have been deployed at SSPU flyover to expedite the work. The ramp work on Ganeshkhind Road at E-square and on Aundh Road have already started, while the RCC deck slab in one span of Aundh ramp has been casted, and two spans on Aundh ramp and one ramp on Ganeshkhind Road are ready for casting this week,” she said.

Citizens commuting from the city get stuck in traffic snarls in the morning and evening. Seema Joshi, who commutes regularly from the city to the IT hub, said that the administration, while announcing infrastructure projects, should have made alternative arrangements in case the main arterial road is closed for work.

In this case, even though there are alternative routes, these are not helping commuters as the area continues to remain chock-a-block with vehicles.
