Pune: Two Lifts at Pune Railway Station Completed, Operations to Begin Soon

Pune, March 25, 2025 – The long-awaited installation of two lifts at Pune Railway Station’s Platform Nos. 1 and 6 has been completed, with operations set to begin soon for passenger convenience. The Railway Board had sanctioned funds last year for four lifts, of which two have now been finished.
In 2022, Pune railway division officials conducted a survey and submitted a proposal for four lifts at the station. The plan included lifts at Platform No. 1, between Platforms 2-3 and 4-5, and at Platform No. 6 near the Pune Metro station.
A senior railway official confirmed, “The lifts at Platforms 1 and 6 are ready and will soon be operational. Work on the remaining two lifts is underway and should be completed by year-end.”
Meanwhile, the central foot-overbridge (FOB) at Pune station remains closed due to structural cracks detected earlier. The 2019 FOB, connecting all six platforms, is currently inaccessible, while the 2015 FOB at the Solapur end serves Platforms 1, 2, and 3. Two older FOBs near the Mumbai end continue to function.
