Pune: Two College Students Drown in Mulshi Dam During Picnic
In a tragic incident, two college students from the Pimpri Chinchwad area drowned in Mulshi dam on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Anish Raut (18), a resident of Pimpri, and Vishal Rathod (17), from Chinchwad.
According to the police, Anish and Vishal, who studied in different colleges, had gone for a picnic with six friends to the Mulshi dam area on Sunday morning. The group entered the dam water at Chinchavali Dhokalwadi village for a swim. However, Anish and Vishal began to drown.
Upon receiving the information, a team from the Paud police station, Pune rural police, rushed to the spot and initiated a search and rescue operation with the help of locals. The operation was halted on Sunday night due to poor visibility and resumed on Monday morning. The bodies of the two students were recovered on Monday afternoon.
The incident has left the local community in shock, and authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution near water bodies, especially during the monsoon season.
