Pune traffic police have announced a 24-hour ban on heavy vehicles to reduce congestion and prevent accidents on various roads within city limits. This includes multi-axle trucks, containers, trailers, and bulk carriers. However, six to ten-wheeled freight vehicles can operate on designated routes from midnight to 6 AM.

Traffic police, PMC, and related departments are jointly implementing this rule. Certain “red zones” have been marked, requiring prior approval for entry. The Mumbai-Bengaluru highway is not included in this ban. Essential service vehicles are allowed entry between midnight and 6 AM.

Restricted roads include Nagar Road (Viman Nagar to Datt Mandir), Shastrinagar, Koregaon Park, Kalyaninagar, and key routes in Baner, Aundh, Sinhagad, Karve, Satara, and Solapur Road. Heavy vehicles must use alternative routes like Kharadi Bypass, Mundhwa, Hadapsar, and Swargate.

Police urge cooperation and compliance to ensure smooth traffic flow.
