Pune: Teen Arrested for Extorting Woman with Morphed Nude Photos on Instagram

Pune, March 13, 2025: In a shocking case of cyber extortion, the Wanowrie Police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly blackmailing a woman using morphed nude photos on Instagram.
The accused, identified as Raghuvar Balram Chaudhary, a resident of Hadapsar and native of Bihar, created a fake Instagram profile using the victim’s name and photos. He demanded ₹2,000 from the woman, threatening to circulate the morphed images if she refused to pay.
To intimidate the victim, Chaudhary sent one of the edited photos to her brother’s Instagram account. The woman immediately filed a complaint at the Wanowrie Police Station, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
The investigation was led by Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Admane, with assistance from Police Constables Amol Pilane and Atul Gaikwad of the Cyber Team. The team traced the accused to his residence in Hadapsar and arrested him on March 13, 2025. Evidence confirming his involvement was found on his mobile phone.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Dr. Rajkumar Shinde and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wanowrie Division) Dhanyakumar Godase. The court has granted police custody remand for Chaudhary until March 17, 2025. Further investigations are ongoing.
