Pune: Tamhini Ghat road closed due to landslide amid heavy downpour since last night
Pune: A landslide in the Tamhini Ghat on the Raigad-Pune route has caused traffic to come to a standstill. JCBs are currently working to remove the soil from the road in the Mangaon area. Fortunately, there have been no casualties reported. However, five to six places have mud on the road, and trees are lying on the road in many places. As a precaution, the Pune-Kolad road has been closed to traffic.
Due to heavy rain since last night, mud has fallen on the road in several places in Tamhini Ghat in the Mulshi area and three places in the Mangaon area. It is likely to take at least six to eight hours for the road to reopen.
Tehsildar Mangaon has confirmed that traffic through the ghat has been stopped due to a crack in the Tamhini Ghat on the Pune-Raigad route, and some trees have fallen. Traffic has been diverted through alternative routes.
