Pune: Speeding Car Overturns Near Narhe, Claims One Life, Injures Seven

Pune, January 15 – A tragic accident occurred on the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass Section of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway near Narhe in the early hours of Monday, where a speeding car overturned, resulting in the death of a young woman and injuries to seven others.

The deceased has been identified as Vijaya Bajirao Padwal, a 29-year-old resident of Ambegaon Tehsil, Pune. The injured individuals include Pawan Kahate, Vijay Ambekar, Sachin Manjabapu, Gayatri Mohite, Supriya Lad, and Sandeep Marathe. All the injured, including the driver, are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

According to the Sinhagad Road Police Station, the accident occurred around 12:30 AM when the speeding car lost control while exiting the bypass near the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Narhe and overturned. The driver, Prasad Dilip Dhole (25 years old, resident of Khed Tehsil, Pune), has been booked for causing the accident due to reckless speeding. Dhole was also among the injured.

Upon receiving information about the accident, local police rushed to the scene and facilitated the immediate transfer of the injured to a nearby private hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Vijaya Padwal succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

A complaint was registered by Police Constable Prashant Chate, and Police Sub-Inspector Akshay Patil is currently leading the investigation.
