Pune, 21st April 2025 – A routine drive home turned into a nightmare for a Pune couple after a violent road rage attack near Pashan Circle left the husband critically injured and the wife traumatized. The incident, which occurred late on April 18, has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about public safety.

Ketaki Bhujbal, a lifelong resident of the area, recounted the horrifying experience: “On April 18 around 11 PM, my husband Amal and I were returning home from Mukund Nagar after dinner with friends. At Pashan Circle, two drunk men on an Activa bike started riding erratically, blocking our path. When Amal honked, the rider aggressively banged on our window, demanding to know why we honked. They blocked us for nearly 20 meters before we pulled over to confront them.”

The situation quickly turned violent. “The man became extremely aggressive and started hitting Amal. When I stepped out to help, four more men suddenly appeared. They held Amal down while two others attacked him with stones and sticks. One of them kicked me in the stomach and hit me in the face,” Ketaki said.

The mob then vandalized their car, smashing windows and headlights with large stones. “They even threw stones inside the car, injuring both of us. We barely managed to escape—Amal had a fractured nose and ear injuries, while I suffered abdominal swelling, confirmed by a sonography report,” she added.

The couple immediately sought help from Ketaki’s brother, who took them to Chaturshringi Police Station to file an FIR before admitting Amal to Sai Shree Hospital’s ICU in Aundh.

Ketaki, known in her community as a bold and confident woman, expressed deep trauma: “I was always proud of our city and area, but now I’m terrified to step outside. I keep checking my doors constantly. The worst part? People stopped to record the attack but didn’t help. What has happened to humanity? Who is safe anymore?”

Police have registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Maharashtra Police Act. Authorities are investigating, but no arrests have been made yet.
