As the financial year draws to a close, the Pune Municipal Corporation is intensifying efforts to boost revenue. However, a shocking incident has left a senior citizen in distress. Gore, who had already paid his annual water bill, was baffled by the arrears mentioned in the message. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the bill number did not belong to him, but his mobile number had been erroneously linked to it. The fake bill was addressed to Shaniwar Peth, Nava Pool, while Gore resides at Bawdekar, Tekadi, Shaniwar Peth.

The exorbitant amount left Gore in shock, prompting him to file a complaint with the Municipal Commissioner and the Water Supply Department. He demanded the cancellation of the bill and action against the responsible officials.

“I have complained, but I haven’t received a concrete response. They only say they will fix it. Seeing such a huge amount has increased my blood pressure. Will the Municipal Corporation take responsibility if something happens to me?” Gore questioned.

Meter reader Sanjay Shinde acknowledged the error, stating that Gore’s mobile number was mistakenly listed on the bill and assured that the mistake would be rectified.

This incident has raised concerns about the accuracy of the Municipal Corporation’s billing system and the stress it imposes on citizens, especially senior citizens.
