Pune: Senior Citizen Beaten to Death Over Minor Dispute in Wanowrie; Two Arrested

In a shocking incident in Pune’s Wanowrie area, a 60-year-old senior citizen was beaten to death over a minor dispute at a palm wine shop. The Pune city police Crime Branch Unit 5 swiftly arrested two individuals in connection with the case within six hours of the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Malang Mehboob Qureshi, a resident of Shivneri Nagar, Kondhwa Khurd. According to officials, Qureshi had visited the palm wine shop in the Shantinagar area around 4:30 pm on Friday, where he got into an argument with the accused over a trivial matter.

The confrontation escalated when Adil Hanif Sheikh (18) and Pandurang Namdev Pawar (50), both residents of Kondhwa Khurd, along with their associate Akash Dhande, allegedly assaulted Qureshi. They pushed him against an iron door, causing him to suffer severe head injuries.

Despite being rushed to a hospital, Qureshi succumbed to his injuries. Notably, Pawar is a known criminal, according to the police.

Police acted promptly, arresting Sheikh and Pawar within six hours of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
