Pune commuters are facing significant challenges, including wrong-way driving, poor road conditions, and a lack of directional signboards on Ganeshkhind Road after two-way traffic was restored between Range Hills Chowk and Shivajinagar last week. While the move was intended to ease congestion, it has instead led to confusion and safety concerns.

The issue of wrong-way driving is particularly severe near Agriculture College Chowk, Rahul Theatre, and the connecting road to Sakhar Sankul. Motorists report that unclear traffic instructions are worsening the situation. Last year, diversions were implemented between University Chowk and Shivajinagar for Metro work, and the recent shift to two-way traffic has added to the chaos.

Commuters highlight the poor road conditions, especially near Agriculture College Chowk and the stretch between Range Hills and Shivajinagar, urging immediate repairs. A regular traveler, pointed out confusion among drivers coming from Sakhar Sankul towards Agriculture College due to the newly opened two-way stretch near Rahul Theatre. He called for better signage and clarity on whether the temporary road via the Metro depot will remain operational.

Traffic police officials stated that wardens have been deployed to manage vehicle movement, and issues will be resolved in the coming days. Metro authorities have been instructed to remove unnecessary barricades, while necessary ones will remain to ensure smooth traffic near Agriculture College-Sakhar Sankul and University Road. On Monday evening, barricades were placed at Agriculture College Chowk to restrict vehicles heading towards Shivajinagar.

Citizens continue to demand better infrastructure and safety measures to reduce chaos and ensure hassle-free commuting.
