Pune: PMRDA to Execute Two Elevated Metro Corridors from Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Saswad Road
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will execute two elevated metro corridors connecting Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad Road. These projects were approved by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), which will provide the necessary land but will not bear any financial burden.
In addition to these corridors, the PMC has approved an additional metro station on the Swargate to Katraj underground metro section. This new station, to be erected by Maha-Metro, will be located at Balajinagar near the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. While there are already four metro stations on this route, the decision to add a fifth station came after demands from citizens and elected representatives.
Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale confirmed that Maha-Metro will bear the cost of constructing the Balajinagar station. Although there is no available land at Balajinagar, the station is likely to be built near the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
These developments mark a significant step in enhancing Pune’s metro connectivity, catering to the growing transportation needs of the city and its surrounding areas.
