The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has issued a strict deadline of April 8 for hoarding owners and companies to submit proposals for regularization. Failure to comply will result in the removal of unauthorized hoardings. Additionally, the PMRDA has given a two-day ultimatum for the removal of dangerous hoardings near high-traffic zones.

The decision was finalized during a meeting on March 3 at the PMRDA’s Akurdi office, chaired by Joint Commissioner Dr. Dipti Suryavanshi-Patil, with officials and hoarding association representatives in attendance.

Dr. Suryavanshi-Patil stated, “Hoarding owners must submit permission documents by April 8, or their structures will be deemed illegal and dismantled. New hoardings cannot be erected without approval, and multiple hoardings on a single frame are banned.”

The authority has also prohibited hoardings within reserved road lanes (ROW) and mandated safety measures like tarpaulin or wind-blocking covers. Owners, advertisers, and landowners will be held accountable for accidents caused by non-compliance.

Last year, a PMRDA survey identified 1,000 illegal hoardings, with only 24 demolished by December 2024. Due to unpredictable weather, unsafe hoardings near key routes—including Pune-Satara Road, Paud Road, and Hinjewadi—must be removed immediately.

PMRDA Directives:

  • Remove hazardous hoardings near traffic zones within two days.
  • No hoardings on highways or major roads (e.g., Pune-Nashik Road, Sus Road).
  • April 8 deadline for regularization proposals.
  • Single hoarding per structure; no urban road lane obstructions.
  • Strict penalties for violations, including accident liability.
