Pune: PMRDA Cracks Down on 3,510 Illegal Constructions in Three-Phase Drive

Pune: In a significant move to address traffic congestion caused by unauthorized constructions, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has taken decisive action against 3,510 illegal structures in a three-phase demolition drive. The initiative, led by PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, involved collaboration with the National Highways Authority, Public Works Department, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

- First Phase (Jan 29 – Feb 13, 2025):
- 822 illegal structures demolished along Nagar-Wagholi Road.
- 82,200 sq. ft. of encroached land cleared.
- Second Phase (March 3 – March 13, 2025):
- 2,478 illegal constructions removed from Pune-Nashik Road, Pune-Solapur Road, and Chandni Chowk-Paud Road.
- 247,800 sq. ft. of land reclaimed.
- Third Phase (March 17 – March 30, 2025):
- 210 unauthorized buildings demolished along Hadapsar-Dive Ghat and Pune-Satara Road.
- 34,500 sq. ft. of encroached land cleared.
