Pune: PMRDA Completes 100% Land Acquisition for Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 Construction

Pune, March 6 – The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has successfully acquired 100% of the required land for the construction of Metro Line 3 from Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar. With this, the project is set to progress smoothly towards completion.
As of now, 83% of the construction work on the 23.20 km-long metro corridor is complete. The project was approved under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on February 9, 2018, and the PMRDA subsequently signed a concession agreement with Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd.
A PMRDA official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that the final land transfer was approved by the Raj Bhavan on February 28, and the authority received the official letter on Monday. The transfer included 263.78 square metres of land from the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) side, designated for the construction of a metro staircase. The proposal for this transfer was originally submitted by PMRDA in November 2022.
With 99.94% of the land already handed over to the Metro Concessionaire Company, this final approval ensures that all required land is now available for the project, eliminating any further delays in construction.
