High Court Directives and Compliance

Following Public Interest Litigation (PIL No. 155/2011), the Bombay High Court issued detailed instructions on January 31, 2017, for municipalities across the state to combat unauthorized advertising structures. Subsequent orders, including those on October 9, 2024, November 18, 2024, and December 18, 2024, reiterated the mandate.

In response, PMC has conducted extensive campaigns to remove illegal advertising structures. Recent efforts have resulted in the following actions:

14th to 21st October 2024: 1,449 unauthorized flexes, posters, banners, and kiosks removed.
27th November to 3rd December 2024: 659 illegal structures dismantled, with penalties amounting to ₹1,000.
Continued Action: A total penalty collection of ₹5,23,000, with legal cases registered against 110 individuals/organizations under the Maharashtra Property Defacement Act, 1995.

PMC Appeals to Citizens to Join Hands with Them

PMC urges all residents, advertisers, and business owners to contribute to keeping Pune beautiful and free from visual pollution. Avoid erecting unauthorized hoardings, banners, or advertising structures. Strict punitive and legal action will be taken against violators.

PMC’s Commitment: Nodal Officers Appointed

To ensure effective enforcement, Assistant Commissioners have been designated as implementation officers, while Zonal Deputy Commissioners from Zones 1 to 5 are assigned as nodal/supervisory officers.
