Pune: PMC extends the deadline for property tax payment with discount, check details
Pune Municipal Corporation offers discounts of 5 and 10 percent to property owners who who pay their property tax between 1st April and 31st May. However due to some technical glitches, many property holders who wanted to pay online were not able to complete the transactions before the deadline. Hence PMC has announced an extension in the deadline to pay property tax with discount till June 15.
A 10% discount is given to those with property tax bills under ₹25,000, and a 5% discount is offered for bills over ₹25,000. Due to delays in bill distribution, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) extended this deadline by 15 days, allowing discounts until June 15.
“The PMC will keep its 71 citizens’ facility centers open from 9 am to 9 pm for tax collection. These centers will be open on public holidays and Saturdays and Sundays. Citizens should avail the benefits of this,” reported Hindustan Times.
Property tax department head Madhav Jagtap said, “Till May 29, 5.19 lakh taxpayers had paid tax and availed the benefit of this concession scheme. The PMC has received ₹900.07 crore in tax till May 29. A majority of the citizens prefer to pay the tax online. A total 3.60 lakh taxpayers paid ₹552.42 crore in tax online.”
The PMC had kept all options such as net banking, credit/debit card, UPI payment, Amazon pay, NEFT and RTGS open for paying property tax.
