Pune: PMC demolishes Jaihind Cinema and Cafe Punjab buildings in Khadki to widen Mumbai-Pune Highway
Pune, May 25, 2024: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on early Saturday morning demolished Jaihind Cinema and Cafe Punjab buildings to ease traffic on Mumbai-Pune Highway.
As soon as PMC got the court order for demolition of Jaihind Cinema and Cafe Punjab buildings, PMC wasted no time and brought the equipment to demolish the buildings to make way for the much needed widening of Mumbai Pune Highway stretch in Khadki.
In the presence of PMC officials and with the help of 50 odd contractual labourers, the buildings were taken down, early on Saturday.
This was the final hurdle in the Central Hatchery to Harris Bridge stretch project which is to be widened.
The acquisition is expected to resolve the long-pending traffic issue as the stretch connects PMC and PCMC area which witnesses connivers in thousands on a daily basis.
