Pune: PCMC Launches Free Fashion Designing Training for Women at Bhosari Stitching Center

In a significant move towards women’s empowerment, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has initiated a free fashion designing training program for women at its Stitching Center in Bhosari. The program, which began on March 17, aims to equip participants with advanced sewing and designing skills using modern equipment.
Each batch comprises 30 to 35 women from diverse age groups, ensuring inclusive participation. Trainees will learn to operate high-speed sewing machines, pico-fall machines, overlock machines, embroidery machines, steam irons, and electric cutting machines. The curriculum covers designing and stitching various garments, including designer dresses, blouses, skirts, frocks, lehengas, and embroidery work.
Shekhar Singh, PCMC Municipal Commissioner, emphasized the program’s role in fostering financial independence: “This initiative provides comprehensive support, from technical training to digital marketing, helping women establish themselves in the fashion industry.”
To enhance market readiness, the program includes digital marketing training on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, along with field visits for sourcing raw materials and exploring market opportunities.
Tanaji Narale, Assistant Commissioner of PCMC’s Social Development Department, stated, “We focus on market-driven skills, improving product quality to boost employability and entrepreneurship among women.”
Pradip Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, PCMC, added, “Skill-based training like this empowers women economically, enabling self-reliance through self-employment.”
The initiative reflects PCMC’s commitment to women’s upliftment and skill development in Pune’s growing fashion industry.
