Pune: PCMC Clears Encroachments in Chikhali-Talwade to Ease Traffic and Accelerate Road Development

Pimpri, 6th March 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has successfully conducted an anti-encroachment drive in the Chikhali-Talwade area to enhance road connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion. The operation, carried out from March 3 to 6, focused on clearing encroachments along key development plan (DP) roads.
In the first phase, encroachments covering approximately 30,600 square meters were cleared from the 24-meter-wide DP road stretching 2,550 meters from Chikhali Chowk towards Sonawane Wasti. This move is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and accessibility in the area.
Similarly, on March 5, PCMC targeted the 30-meter-wide DP road from Chikhali to Dehu Alandi and Sonawane Wasti, recovering 9,000 square meters of public land along a 1,360-meter stretch. This action is anticipated to facilitate uninterrupted road development in the near future.
A dedicated team comprising field officers, assistant engineers, electrical technicians, and enforcement personnel was deployed for the operation, supported by the Maharashtra Security Force and Pimpri Chinchwad police.
PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh highlighted the importance of the drive, stating, “The Chikhali-Talwade area has witnessed rapid urbanization, leading to increased congestion. To support planned infrastructure development and ensure seamless mobility for residents and businesses, road widening is crucial. Clearing encroachments is a necessary step in this direction, and we appreciate the cooperation of the public in facilitating this initiative.”
The drive is a significant step in PCMC’s ongoing efforts to streamline urban mobility and expand the road network. With these developments, residents can expect reduced travel time, improved safety, and better access to key areas.
