Pune: Passenger Traffic Rises by 11% at Pune Airport, 30,000+ Daily Travelers, Improved Facilities & Stronger Connectivity
Pune’s Lohegaon International Airport has witnessed an 11% rise in passenger traffic, with more than 30,000 travelers passing through daily. This growth comes after the launch of the new terminal, which has improved facilities and enhanced passenger experience. However, despite the summer season kicking in, no new flight routes have been added.
Pune Airport Operates 104 Daily Flights
For the summer season, Pune Airport has been allocated 109 flight slots, out of which 104 are currently in use. The highest number of flights from Pune are operated to Delhi, with over 20 departures and arrivals each day. Bengaluru follows next, with 15 daily flights each way. The strong connectivity between Pune and these two cities is attributed to the high number of business and IT professionals traveling regularly.
Airport authorities have instructed airlines to maximize the use of available slots to accommodate growing passenger demand. This has provided some relief to travelers, ensuring smoother operations and better connectivity.
Pune Connected to 36 Cities, Including 3 International Destinations
Currently, Pune Airport is connected to 36 domestic cities, along with three international destinations—Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok. There are two flight services operating to Dubai. While there were expectations of an increase in international and domestic flights for the summer season, no additional routes have been introduced.
New Terminal Improves Passenger Experience
With the new terminal in operation, passenger facilities have significantly improved, leading to an increase in footfall. The rise in amenities has made travel more convenient, contributing to the 11% surge in passenger numbers. At present, more than 30,000 travelers pass through Pune Airport every day.
Airport authorities have emphasized that the newly allocated 109 slots will help streamline travel further. The growing connectivity and improved infrastructure are expected to benefit passengers, making Pune an important aviation hub in the region.
