Pune: Ola Driver Slaps 50-Year-Old Passenger, Switches Off AC During Mumbai-Pune Ride; Son Shares Ordeal on Social Media

A shocking incident involving an Ola cab driver has come to light, where a 50-year-old passenger was allegedly slapped during a ride from Mumbai to Pune. The passenger’s son took to Reddit to narrate the harrowing experience, raising serious concerns about customer safety on intercity cab services.
According to the Reddit post, the passenger, who was traveling alone, booked an Ola cab from eastern Mumbai to Pune. The driver reportedly changed the route without consulting the passenger, insisting on taking the Atal Setu route despite objections. The situation worsened when the driver switched off the AC during peak heat, claiming there was no gas, and stopped the vehicle midway at Khopoli to refuel.
The argument escalated, and the driver allegedly slapped the passenger, leaving injury marks on his face. The passenger retaliated, but the altercation continued until they reached Wakad, near Pune. There, a “bulky goon” intervened, and the matter was taken to the police station. However, the passenger chose not to file a formal complaint, fearing it would impact the driver’s career.

Despite the ordeal, the passenger paid the additional dues as per the Ola app and later completed his journey via an auto. The Reddit user also mentioned that Ola refunded the fare without any formal request, and Amazon Pay reimbursed the amount paid through its platform.
This incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many questioning the safety measures in place for passengers using ride-hailing services.
