Pune: New Direct Flights to Bangkok and Doha Likely from Pune Airport
Pune – Pune airport’s winter schedule is likely to start direct flights from Pune to Bangkok and Doha. Airlines have proposed this and have demanded slots. Pune airport is positive to provide slots, and the service will be started if slots are available at Bangkok and Doha airports. The service is more likely to start in the winter schedule.
Pune to Bangkok has been proposed by Air India Express, and IndiGo for Doha. At present, this proposal is being considered in the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Once the proposal is approved, Doha and Bangkok airports will be checked for slots. Pune airport is positive to offer slots to both airlines. Earlier, there was a flight service from Pune to Doha, which was closed within a few months.
Now, once again, there are moves to start air service to Doha. These services may start if the Ministry of Civil Aviation is positive about starting two new services from Pune. Pune MP Muralidhar Mohol, the Minister of State for Aviation, is expected to pay attention to this matter. If approved, direct flights to Bangkok and Doha will be available to the people of Pune.
Currently, there are two international flights operating from Pune airport, which include Dubai and Singapore. The winter schedule is still months away. By then, the new terminal will also open for passengers, likely increasing the number of flights. This increase may include both domestic and international flights.
“This discussion is going on at the senior level. Nothing has reached me yet. We are always positive to start service to new cities from Pune.” – Santosh Dhoke, Airport Director, Pune, reported Sakal.
