Pune: MSEDCL Employee Attacked With Iron Rod Over Electricity Disconnection

The injured employee has been admitted to hospital for treatment, and a criminal case has been registered against the accused at Uruli Kanchan Police Station
An MSEDCL employee was attacked with an iron rod by a defaulter who had illegally restored his electricity supply after it was disconnected due to unpaid bills. The incident occurred on Monday (10 February) in Tupe Vasti, Haveli taluka. The injured employee has been admitted to hospital for treatment, and a criminal case has been registered against the accused at Uruli Kanchan Police Station.
According to the police, Senior Technician Nilesh Chakane and Electrical Assistant Shahabaz Shaikh from MSEDCL’s Uruli Kanchan sub-division were inspecting power connections in the Sainagar area of Tupe Vasti. During their inspection, they found that the electricity supply to a house had been illegally restored after being disconnected on 23 January due to unpaid bills.
While officials were initiating further action, the tenant living in the house confronted them aggressively, questioning their authority and saying, “Who are you to interfere if I have restored the power?” He then verbally abused both officials and attacked Senior Technician Nilesh Chakane with an iron pipe, hitting him on the head. Chakane, who sustained injuries, was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.
Following a complaint by MSEDCL, Uruli Kanchan Police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 132, 121(1), 118(1), 351(1), 351(3), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
