According to reports, five fire brigade vehicles were initially rushed to the spot after the emergency call. On arrival, firefighters found the three-storey wooden structure completely engulfed in flames, with thick smoke making visibility difficult for residents and passersby.

Recognizing the severity of the fire, the fire control room deployed additional resources — a total of 10 fire engines, 4 water tankers, 2 extra fire engines, and 5 more water tankers from the vehicle depot — to control the blaze.

Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode personally led the firefighting operation, assisted by five senior officers and over 60 fire personnel. “Firefighters strategically parked vehicles on three adjacent roads and began spraying water to douse the flames. As a precautionary measure, nearby residential buildings were evacuated due to heavy smoke,” Potphode stated.

He added that firefighters safely removed a gas cylinder from the wada, preventing a potentially larger explosion. Despite narrow lanes and ongoing roadwork creating hurdles, the fire was brought under control within an hour. Cooling operations continued late into the night to avoid any flare-ups.

No casualties or injuries have been reported so far. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are currently underway. Authorities are also assessing the extent of structural damage caused by the fire.
