Pune: Man Refuses to Join Liquor Party Due to Wife’s Restriction; Angry Friends Set His Bike on Fire

In a shocking incident in Kothrud, Pune, a man’s refusal to drink alcohol due to his wife’s objection led to a violent act of arson by his friends. The incident occurred on the night of Holi in Raut Wadi, Hanuman Nagar, Kothrud.
The victim, Shibukumar Thakur, was invited by his friends, Kanhai Thakur (28) and Hiralal Sharma (24), for a drinking session. However, Shibukumar declined, citing his wife’s disapproval. Enraged by his refusal, the two friends allegedly set his parked two-wheeler on fire. The flames quickly spread, causing severe damage to other motorcycles in the parking area.
Locals noticed the fire late at night and alerted the police. The Kothrud police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Based on a complaint by Shibukumar, the police registered a case and arrested both accused. They have been charged with arson, vandalism, and public disturbance.
The incident has left residents in shock, highlighting how a minor disagreement escalated into a serious crime. Authorities are assessing the total damage caused by the fire, and the investigation is ongoing.
