Pune: Maharashtra Govt Reissues Land Acquisition Notification for Pune-Nashik Greenfield Expressway

Pune, 21st March 2025: The Maharashtra state government has reissued the land acquisition notification for the ambitious Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway project. This greenfield expressway, developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), is set to revolutionize connectivity between Pune and Nashik, cutting travel time from 5-6 hours to just 2-3 hours.
Project Highlights:
✅ Reduced Travel Time: The 134 km expressway will significantly cut travel time between the two cities.
✅ Massive Investment: The project entails a total investment of ₹15,696 crore, including land acquisition costs.
✅ Land Acquisition: 1,545 hectares of land will be acquired to facilitate the highway’s construction.
✅ Economic Boost: The expressway is expected to enhance logistics, boost industrial development, and strengthen economic growth in the region.
Challenges and Progress
MSRDC had previously appointed a consultant through a tender process to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the expressway. However, the project faced delays due to protests from farmers opposing land acquisition. The initial land acquisition notification issued last year lapsed after failing to commence within the designated timeframe.
With the fresh notification, the government has renewed its commitment to expediting the Pune-Nashik expressway, paving the way for improved connectivity and economic expansion in Maharashtra.
