Pune: MahaMetro to Construct Double-Decker Flyover on Paud Road Alongside Metro Expansion

Pune, April 1, 2025 – MahaMetro is set to begin work on the extended metro route from Vanaz to Chandani Chowk soon. Alongside this metro expansion, a two-tier flyover will be constructed on Paud Road, stretching from Kachara Depot to Lohia IT Park. The proposal for this flyover has already been submitted by MahaMetro to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Paud Road, known as the city’s western gateway and the primary route connecting to the Pune-Mumbai Highway, faces severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. With three signals between Lohia IT Park and Kachara Depot, along with dense residential areas on both sides, nearly 1.5 km of the road remains heavily congested.
To ease traffic, the PMC had earlier planned a flyover. Now, with MahaMetro’s metro expansion from Vanaz to Chandani Chowk, a Double-Decker Flyover (similar to the one at Nal Stop) will be built near Kothrud Depot. The project, estimated to cost ₹85 crores, aims to significantly reduce traffic bottlenecks in the Kothrud Depot area.
This initiative is expected to improve connectivity and streamline vehicular movement on one of Pune’s busiest roads.
