Pune: Last 12 days left to avail property tax concessions for PCMC residents

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has set a deadline of June 30 to avail various tax concessions. Only 12 days remain, and cash counters will be open from from 10 am to 6 pm till 30th June.

On behalf of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, under Siddhi initiative, bills have been distributed to the property owners through the women’s self-help group. That is why, in two and a half months of the financial year 2024-25, 3 lakh 9 thousand 233 property owners have deposited a revenue of 362 crore 12 lakh rupees in the municipal treasury, said Assistant Commissioner of Tax Collection and Taxation Department Nilesh Deshmukh.

Various tax concessions are being given to the property owners on behalf of the tax collection department. The deadline for these concessions is 30 June. Therefore, property owners tend to pay taxes in the first quarter of the financial year. There are 17 zones for tax collection on behalf of the Municipal Corporation. Online facility is also available. However, many citizens are paying taxes in cash. Due to this, there has been a huge crowd of citizens in the tax collection office for the past few days. The Municipal Corporation has taken an important decision to open the cash counter from 10 am to 6 pm. Also, in order to benefit from the tax concessions, maximum property owners should pay their tax till June 30, said Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh.

PCMC Property Tax Rebates

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation offers rebate on property tax if payments are done on time. Also, extra rebates are offered to women property owners and ex-servicemen.

  • On delay in payment of PCMC property tax a 2 percent fine is charged on monthly basis. This amount can become 24% in a year.
  • The payment has to be done before June 30 every year.

Important Dates for PCMC Property Tax Payment 

The PCMC property tax is an annual payment and must be paid as per the schedule. May end is the due date for the payment of PCMC property tax that needs to be paid between 1st April to 30th September. 

For the duration between 1st October to 31st March, the last date for the payment of PCMC property tax is 31st December. A penalty of 2 percent is levied in case of a delayed payment of PCMC property tax payment. 

Fifty percent of the property owners paid the tax within two and a half months

In order to pay taxes on time by the property owners in the city, the tax collection and taxation department of the municipal corporation has created public awareness on large scale through various means. Due to the fact that the amount of penalty for tax arrears continues to increase, the municipal administration has succeeded in convincing the property owners that paying taxes on time is always in the interest of the property owners. Therefore, in the first two and a half months of the financial year, out of 6 lakh 28 thousand property holders, 3 lakh 9 thousand 233 property holders have paid their tax.
