The case came to light after the child’s mother filed a missing person complaint at the Chandannagar police station, stating that both her husband and son had been missing since Thursday afternoon. Following an intensive investigation using CCTV footage and mobile tracking, the police traced Madhav to a lodge in Vadgaonsheri, where he was found intoxicated.

Police reviewed CCTV footage from Lohgaon, Vadgaonsheri, and Hadapsar, which showed Madhav with his son at 2:30 pm on Thursday. However, by 5:00 pm, he was seen alone, purchasing clothes, raising suspicions. Upon regaining consciousness, Madhav confessed to the crime, revealing that he had killed his son and dumped the body near the highway. The police recovered the child’s blood-soaked body from the crime scene.

According to DCP (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav, “The accused had been unemployed for two months, having previously worked in the IT sector. His growing suspicions about his wife’s character and doubts regarding his son’s paternity ultimately led him to commit this horrific act.”

Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne of Chandannagar police station added, “Through technical analysis, we tracked the accused and arrested him. He had premeditated the crime, purchasing a knife and blade before taking the child. The body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigation is ongoing.”

Madhav, originally from Visakhapatnam, had moved to Pune in 2016 for work. He is currently in police custody, and legal proceedings are underway.
