A shocking road rage incident on Sinhgad Road in Pune left a husband and wife brutally assaulted with a koyta (sickle) on Friday evening. The victims, identified as Nisha Patale and her husband Ravishankar Patale, were attacked after Ravishankar objected to one of the accused urinating in public, citing the presence of women in the area.
According to police reports, the altercation escalated when the accused, angered by Ravishankar’s intervention, first attacked Nisha. When Ravishankar tried to defend his wife, he was struck on the head with a koyta, causing severe injuries. The assailants fled the scene but were apprehended within hours.
Three individuals—Mohan Gore (20) of Hingane Khurd, Karan Barge (19) of Koradwasti, and Sahil Pathan (19) of Sainagar—have been arrested, while two minors have been detained in connection with the attack. Police sub-inspector Suresh Jaybhai revealed that the accused had also caused panic in Rajiv Gandhi Vasahat, Vithalwadi, by brandishing sharp weapons and threatening locals just 15 minutes before the assault.
Two separate cases have been registered against the accused. In the Vithalwadi incident, they were charged under BNS sections 351(3), 189(1), (2)(4), 190, and 191(2), along with section 4(25) of the Arms Act. For the attack on the couple, they face attempted murder charges, and further investigations are ongoing.
