Pune: Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro Corridor to Get Parking Zones Near Stations

Pune’s upcoming Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor, currently under construction, is set to receive a major upgrade with dedicated parking zones near several stations. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) have jointly decided to create these facilities to ease commuter woes, especially for those struggling with last-mile connectivity. The Metro line, expected to begin operations by September 2025, will see parking spaces within a 500-meter radius of select stations.
Where Will the Parking Zones Be Located?
A total of 10 sites have been identified, with eight under PMC jurisdiction and two under PMRDA. Key locations include:
- Balewadi Survey No. 28/19 – Near Balewadi Stadium & Food Hub
- Balewadi Survey No. 28/38/1 – Close to NICMAR & Amar Tech Park
- Baner Survey No. 83/1 – Near Baner Village & Concord Proximity
- Baner Survey No. 87/1 – Adjacent to ABZ Complex
- Baner Survey No. 202 – Near Kapil Malhar Society
The 23-km-long corridor, built at a cost of ₹8,500 crore, will have 23 stations, with 14 falling under PMC’s control. PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has directed officials to expedite the parking zone construction at the designated stations. While work is underway, parking fees are yet to be finalized, though commuters have urged authorities to keep charges affordable.
Local residents and daily commuters have welcomed the move, calling it a much-needed step to enhance Metro accessibility.
