Pune: Heavy Traffic Jam in Sadhu Vaswani Bridge Area, Koregaon Park
May 27, 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has closed the Sadhu Vaswani Bridge for demolition, causing heavy traffic jams in the Koregaon Park area. Mangaldas Road is completely congested, with traffic extending from Yerwada to the Residency Club.
The traffic jams are a consequence of changes to vehicular traffic in the Bund Garden and Koregaon Park areas announced by the Pune Traffic Police recently due to the Sadhu Vaswani bridge construction.
According to further information from Pune Traffic Police, the PMC will demolish and rebuild the Sadhu Vaswani bridge due to its hazardous condition. There is a risk of traffic congestion within the Koregaon Park, Bund Garden traffic department until the Sadhu Vaswani bridge is demolished and rebuilt.
As a result, in order to keep traffic flowing smoothly in the aforementioned areas, the traffic flow of all types of vehicles within the limits of the Koregaon Park and Bund Garden traffic departments has been changed as follows, effective May 25, 2024:
- The road between Circuit House Chowk and Blue Diamond Hotel Chowk is closed to traffic on both sides.
- One route connects Mahatma Gandhi Udyan Chowk, Blue Diamond Chowk, and Moboz Chowk.
Alternate routes:
From Blue Diamond Hotel Chowk to Mor Odha Chowk, turn towards Mangaldas Road, then towards Moboz Chowk. From Mangaldas Chowk, turn left to IB Chowk, then left to Circuit House, and finally right to Mor Odha Chowk to reach your destination. From Moboz Chowk to Mahatma Gandhi Udyan Chowk (Bund Garden Road), traffic will be one-way.
To reach Koregaon Park from Moboz Chowk, take the alternate route by going straight to Shriman Chowk and turning right at Mahatma Gandhi Udyan Chowk via Koregaon Park Junction. The entrance from Shriman Chowk to Koregaon Park Junction via Mehta Road will be closed.
From Shriman Chowk, turn right at Mahatma Gandhi Udyan Chowk towards Koregaon Park. I V Chowk to Circuit House, during an emergency, there will be one-way traffic between Chowk and Mor Odha. Traffic from Blue Diamond Chowk to South Main Road in Koregaon Park will continue as usual.
