Heatstroke, a life-threatening condition, occurs when the body fails to regulate its internal temperature, leading to symptoms such as severe headache, vomiting, dry skin, dizziness, and unconsciousness. Vulnerable groups include young children, the elderly, pregnant women, outdoor workers, and individuals with pre-existing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease.
Dr. Asharani Telang, State Epidemiologist, advised immediate first-aid measures for heatstroke patients, such as moving them to shaded areas, providing cool water, and using cold compresses. She urged citizens to stay vigilant and seek medical attention if symptoms like disorientation, delirium, or seizures occur.
This initiative aims to mitigate the health risks posed by the ongoing heatwave and ensure timely medical intervention for those affected.
