Pune: Female Security Guards to be Deployed on PMPML Buses for Student Safety

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to deploy female security guards on PMPML buses used by municipal school students, prioritizing their safety. The decision comes after a recent incident of abuse at the Swargate ST stand, raising concerns over student security.
While private school buses and vans already have female assistants, PMPML buses transporting PMC school students currently lack such personnel. Approximately 200 to 300 PMPML buses are used daily for student transportation, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures.
PMC Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP stated, “Discussions have been held with the education department regarding the appointment of female security guards. The safety of students attending PMC schools is a key priority for the civic body.”
The move aims to create a safer travel environment for students and prevent future incidents.
