Pune: Crucial Missing Link on Chikhali–Kalewadi Phata BRT Route Now Partially Open, Easing North-South Connectivity in PCMC

In a significant boost to North-South connectivity in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the crucial “missing link” road in the Indolink Eurocity industrial area—connecting the Auto Cluster to the Commissioner’s residence—has been partially opened for vehicular traffic. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) undertook this project to alleviate traffic congestion on the Chikhali–Kalewadi Phata BRT corridor.

While final work remains pending due to land possession issues with MIDC, priority tasks like road expansion, resurfacing, lighting, and water pipeline installations will be completed soon.
Key Benefits:
✔ PMPML buses can now fully utilize the BRT corridor, ensuring faster commutes.
✔ Motorists traveling from Wakad/Kalewadi Phata to Dehu-Alandi can bypass lengthy detours.
✔ Improved connectivity at major intersections, including Dehu-Alandi Road, Spine Road, Telco Road, Old Mumbai-Pune Road, Pimpri-Chinchwad Link Road, and Bhosari-Wakad BRT.
Future Plans:
- Road widening from Kudalwadi Chowk to Chikhali following an anti-encroachment drive.
- Signal-free high-speed corridor proposal from Chikhali to Wakad under consideration.
- Proposal submitted to PMRDA for a 9 km stretch (Chikhali–Moi–Nighoje–Kharabwadi) and six-lane widening of the Indrayani River Bridge to enhance connectivity between Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune’s ring roads, and the Talegaon-Chakan industrial belt.
MLA Mahesh Landge (Bhosari Constituency) shared these updates, reaffirming the commitment to modern road networks for smarter urban growth and smoother commutes.
