First Heatstroke Death in Maharashtra Sparks Concern
Amid rising temperatures, Maharashtra has reported its first heatstroke-related fatality of the season. A 25-year-old man from Jalgaon district succumbed to heatstroke after prolonged exposure to the sun in Soegaon, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The incident has sparked concern as summer temperatures continue to rise across the state.
IMD has warned of a heatwave persisting across Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and neighboring regions. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions, such as staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, and wearing light-colored, breathable clothing.
Pune Weather Forecast: Relief Unlikely Soon
The IMD forecasts mainly clear skies with afternoon cloud cover from March 28 onwards. However, temperatures are expected to remain high, with no immediate respite in sight.
- March 27 – Clear sky
- March 28 – April 1 – Clear sky, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon/evening
Additionally, isolated thunderstorms and light rain may occur in early April due to local atmospheric instability, providing some relief from the sweltering heat.
Rising Heatwave Threat
With rising temperatures posing serious health risks, the IMD has issued a heatwave warning for multiple states, including Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. Maximum temperatures are expected to increase by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius in the coming days, intensifying heatwave conditions.
As Pune and other regions brace for more hot days ahead, authorities advise people to stay indoors during peak heat hours, drink plenty of water, and look out for symptoms of heatstroke, such as dizziness, nausea, and excessive sweating.
