Pune: Chitale Sweet Home Says ‘Chitale Bandhu’ Name on Bakarwadi Packets Was a Printing Error

In a clarification given to media, Chitale Sweet Home has addressed the recent FIR filed by Chitale Bandhu over alleged misuse of their brand name. Advocate Hemant Zanjad, representing Chitale Sweet Home, stated in a press conference that the presence of the name “Chitale Bandhu” on their bakarwadi packets was due to an unintentional printing mistake.
As reported by The Indian Express, the FIR was lodged on April 16 at Vishrambaug Police Station. Chitale Bandhu claimed that Chitale Sweet Home was allegedly producing and selling fake bakarwadi using their brand name.
However, Zanjad clarified that the error occurred only on a small packaging strip containing the customer care number. “We came to know that on a small strip on the new packets of bakarwadi, the name of Chitale Bandhu was printed instead of Chitale Sweets. The mistake that occurred was at the printing press and was unintentional,” he said.
To prevent confusion and business disruption, Chitale Sweet Home issued a public notice in a Marathi daily once they became aware of the error. The affected packets were also recalled. “There was no intention of doing anything wrong. We will fight whatever legal battles we have to,” Zanjad added.
He emphasized that Chitale Sweet Home is a completely separate brand with a different trademark. “Our trademark is different, our design is registered, and we have been operating since 1954 from Sadashiv Peth. The name Chitale Sweet Home has been trademarked since 2016 under Pramod Prabhakar Chitale,” he stated.
Chitale Sweet Home also holds a Shop Act License since 1954, which has been renewed regularly, Zanjad mentioned.
